What is Mailgun?

Mailgun is an email automation service that provides APIs and other tools for businesses to send, receive, and track emails. Mailgun is commonly used to integrate email functionality into applications or websites.


What is Mailgun authentication to Aloware?

Mailgun authentication to Aloware enables the use of Mailgun API to send and receive emails on behalf of the user.


Integration Prerequisite

  1. You must have a Mailgun account and a verified domain associated with the account.

  2. Only admins can integrate Aloware and Mailgun.


Authenticating Mailgun with Aloware

  1. In your Aloware account, navigate to the Integrations menu.

  2. Go to the Mailgun card, and click the Settings button.

  3. In the Mailgun Integration Settings, you need to add your Mailgun Private API key:

    Note - when you click the here text, it redirects you to the Mailgun login page.

  4. To get your Mailgun API key:

    • Login to your Mailgun account > click the drop-down arrow beside your profile name > select API keys.

    • In the API security tab, click the eye icon to display the Private API Key > select to copy.

  5. Now, paste the Private API Key, and click the Test button.

  6. Configure Mailgun settings (required):

    • Mailgun Domain - this is the domain you will use to send email using the Mailgun account.

    • Sender Address - your business email address that reflects the "From" in the recipient's email (e.g. [email protected]).

    • Sender Name - the business name displayed in the inboxes of your recipients (e.g. Aloware Dev).

  7. Click the Save button. Your integration status in green means that the integration is successful.


Confirmation

Send an email to test Aloware and Mailgun integration.

  1. In your Aloware account, navigate to the Contacts page.

  2. Select a contact, and make sure that it has an email address.

  3. Click the Email tab > click the Send Email button once you have created your Email subject and message.

  4. This is also logged as an Outbound Email in the communications activity.
