This section covers the most common issues customers may run into when connecting or using MCP with Aloware.

Each entry explains what the problem is, what causes it, and the steps needed to resolve or confirm expected behavior. Use it as a quick reference with setup, unexpected activity, or questions about how MCP actions are tracked and billed.

MCP is not connecting

If your AI client cannot connect to Aloware, work through the checks below in order. Most connection issues fall under one of these causes.

Check

What to verify

API token exists

A valid API token has been generated in Admin β†’ Integrations β†’ MCP Integrations.

Endpoint URL

The correct endpoint URL is being used for your account.

Token placement

The Bearer token is pasted correctly in the AI client's config file, under the Authorization header for each server.

Token validity

The token is the same Form Capture API token.

If other Form Capture integrations are working, the token itself is valid.

OAuth flow completed

For Claude or ChatGPT marketplace connections, confirm the OAuth consent flow was completed.

Bearer token setup alone is not enough for marketplace clients.

Local HTTPS issues

If a local AI client fails over HTTPS due to Node.js certificate store issues, switch to HTTP for local development.

An SMS or call was sent that the customer did not intend

Cause: MCP operations are initiated by the AI assistant based on the user's prompt. The customer controls what the AI does through their instructions.

Resolution: Every MCP operation is real and consumes credits the same as a manual operation. There is no dry-run mode. Customers should review their prompts carefully before issuing multi-contact operations.

Rate limits

MCP operations go through the same rate limiting as the Form Capture API. There are no separate MCP-specific rate limits.

Viewing what the AI did

All MCP communications appear in the contact timeline with Creator Type: MCP. Customers can filter their activity log to see every MCP-originated action.

CRM integration compatibility

The Contact server supports looking up contacts and enrolling or disenrolling them by their HubSpot, Zoho, Guesty, or Pipedrive contact IDs.
