RCS lines are managed like other Aloware lines, but they include settings specific to RCS messaging. You can manage multiple RCS lines in the same account, configure routing, assign a fallback line, and review RCS activity from the line settings.
Each RCS submission appears in the Lines list with the type RCS.
Before you begin
Make sure RCS has been activated for your account and that an RCS line is available in the Lines list.
For information about requesting RCS activation, see RCS Messaging.
Managing RCS lines
RCS submissions are added to your account as individual lines.
Each RCS line appears in the Lines list with the type RCS, allowing you to manage its settings independently.
You can also assign a fallback line to an RCS line. A fallback line is a regular line that Aloware uses when an outbound RCS message cannot be sent.
The existing line routing rules also apply to RCS. An Inbox can be connected to multiple lines, but a line can only be connected to one Inbox.
Set up an RCS line
Open the Lines list. RCS submissions appear as lines with the type RCS.
Find the RCS line you want to configure and select Settings.
Configure the available line settings, including the description, Inbox and User routing, and fallback line.
To configure a fallback line, select a regular line from the Fallback line field. You can change the fallback line later or set it to None.
Select Save to apply your changes.
A fallback line is optional, so you can save the RCS line without assigning one. However, Aloware recommends configuring a fallback line to help ensure that messages can still be sent if RCS delivery fails.
Automatic fallback
When an outbound RCS message fails, Aloware automatically sends the message through the configured fallback line.
Both events are recorded in the RCS line's Activity log. The log shows the RCS delivery failure followed by the fallback send, allowing you to verify that fallback occurred.
If no fallback line is configured, the failed RCS message is not automatically resent through another line.
Pause an RCS line
You can pause an RCS line from its settings when you need to temporarily stop using the line. The line remains in your account and can be resumed later.
Deleting an RCS line
