This feature allows you to send long text messages (messages exceeding standard SMS character limits) by automatically converting them to MMS format when necessary, ensuring message delivery without splitting the text into multiple segments.
This feature is available only for lines in the US and Canada. It supports Short Code, Toll-Free, and A2P 10DLC sender types within these regions.
What problem does this solve?
This feature addresses several key issues by preventing the fragmentation of long texts, ensuring that messages are delivered in their entirety, and avoiding the confusion that can arise from split messages. Additionally, it upholds professional communication standards.
How can a business admin use this?
Activating across all account lines
Log in to Aloware admin account, and navigate to the Account menu.
Select the General Settings tab.
Enable the Send long text messages as MMS option.
A confirmation will appear once the changes are successfully applied.
Activating for a specific line
Go to the Lines section in your Aloware Admin account.
Select the line you want to configure, then click on Settings.
In the General tab, enable Send long text messages as MMS.
Click Save to apply the settings.
Additional monitoring tip:
Admin users can monitor MMS capabilities to ensure proper setup:
Navigate to the Lines section in your admin account.
Refer to the Line Capabilities column to verify which numbers support MMS.
How can an average user use this?
When sending long text messages, Aloware automatically checks your selected phone number's MMS capabilities:
If the selected number supports MMS capability
The system sends the message as an MMS without any additional action required.
If the selected number lacks MMS capability
The system notifies you that the message cannot be sent. You will need to choose another MMS-capable number.
If multiple phone numbers are available
Aloware automatically uses an MMS-capable number from your pool.
Example: If “440-374-8483” (MMS-capable) and a non-MMS number are available, the system will use “440-374-8483” to send the message.
How does this relate to our other tools?
This feature aligns seamlessly with other Aloware tools to enhance communication efficiency through proper configuration and intelligent system behavior.
Prerequisites:
To integrate this feature with your Aloware tools, you need at least one MMS-capable phone number and the correct account settings.
If all numbers lack MMS capability:
This feature will be disabled. Users will receive a notification to select MMS-capable number.
With mixed number capabilities:
Aloware automatically chooses an MMS-capable number when sending long messages, so you don’t have to do anything manually.
Limitations
The system can’t force non-MMS-capable lines to send MMS, so at least one MMS-capable number is required for everything to work.
Note that the system will automatically select an MMS-capable number if available in your account pool, even if a non-MMS-capable number was initially selected.
