The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) prohibits telemarketing, automated and pre-recorded calls from calling consumers without their permission. TCPA allows consumers to sue and collect damages from companies for non-compliant calls and texts.

Check with your legal counsel to ensure that your opt-out methods are TCPA compliant.

Aloware admins can enable an option to automatically opt-out contacts from SMS until they submit a specific form, which will manually opt-in.

Preventing Messaging to Non-TCPA Approved Contacts

Aloware includes a setting that allows the admin to enable or disable SMS delivery to Non-TCPA Approved Contacts. To do this,

  1. Navigate to Accounts > Contact Settings.

  2. Enable the "Prevent Messaging to Non-TCPA Approved Contacts" Option.

What happens when this option is enabled?

Enabling the "Prevent Messaging to Non-TCPA Approved Contacts" option will

  1. Prevent messages from being sent to TCPA numbers. The messaging function is automatically disabled.

  2. By default, all contacts are set to No. It does not allow agents to change the contact's TCPA Approved Status.
