The trust score, administered by The Campaign Registry (TCR), plays a significant role in brand and SMS campaign registration with US wireless telecommunications networks.
In this article, we will explore what the trust score is, its relevance, and how brands can improve their scores for better SMS campaign performance.
What is a trust score?
A trust score is a numeric rating assigned to brands and SMS campaigns by TCR, an independent third-party organization. This score reflects a brand's credibility and reputation, influencing the volume of messages a brand can send over wireless carriers.
Higher trust scores translate to increased message throughput and audience reach.
Why is trust score important?
A high trust score offers several benefits for brands and marketers.
Brand with higher trust scores experience fewer messages flagged as spam, which enhances customer engagement and boosts conversion rates.
Carriers prioritizes brands with higher trust scores, allowing them to extend their reach and visibility.
The trust score system dictates the number of outbound SMS and MMS segments that can be sent within a 24-hour period, resetting at midnight (Pacific US time).
Here are the limits based on your trust score:
Trust score is 75-100: 200,000 SMS segments + MMS/day
Trust score is 50-74: 40,000 SMS segments + MMS/day
Trust score is 25-49: 10,000 SMS segments + MMS/day
Trust score is 1-24: 2,000 SMS segments + MMS/day
How can I increase my trust score?
If you receive a low trust score, you have the option to appeal a TCR decision. Here's how:
Gather required documentation - ensure you have your current and valid business registration documents ready, such as your EIN or IRS documentation.
Submit your request - reach out to our Customer Success Manager (CSM) or Technical Support Representative (TSR) to initiate your appeal.
Review of fees - you can appeal a TCR decision for free within 45 days. After that, a $40 re-vetting fee applies. There's also an option for enhanced vetting, which costs $95, if your brand needs a more detailed review.
Appeal timeline - after your appeal request is submitted, please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Depending on the volume of requests, this may extend to 4-6 weeks.
