What is Aloware’s line settings audit trail?
Aloware’s Line Settings Audit Trail gives your team full visibility into any changes made to your phone line configurations. It adds a dedicated Audit Log tab to each line’s settings, allowing you to monitor what was changed, who made the update, and when it happened.
This is especially useful for managing workflows, keeping teams accountable, and ensuring your communication settings remain consistent over time.
Why does this feature matter?
When multiple admins manage phone lines, it’s easy to lose track of changes. For example, if a supervisor reroutes all incoming calls to their extension without informing the team, there could be confusion about missed calls or workflow disruptions. With the audit trail, you don’t have to guess what changed or when—it’s all recorded and visible to the admin.
This added transparency helps you maintain better control over your communication strategies, improve decision-making, and avoid unexpected routing issues.
Where to find the line settings audit log?
To view the audit trail, log in to your Aloware Admin account and go to the Lines tab. Select the line you want to review, and navigate to the Audit Log tab at the top of the page. This section automatically displays a timeline of changes made to that line.
Each entry shows the name of the user who made the change, the exact time the change was made, and which settings were updated. You'll also see both the previous and new values for those settings.
How the audit log works
The audit log continuously tracks line-level changes without any extra setup. Once enabled, Aloware records every update to the line, whether it’s a routing adjustment, name change, or feature toggle.
You can scroll through the entries or use the built-in search and filter tools to find specific updates. This is especially helpful if you want to investigate an issue, verify a configuration change, or see which user adjusted something at a specific time.
For example, if calls suddenly start skipping your ring group, you can check the audit log to confirm whether a routing rule was changed and by whom. This lets you reverse unwanted changes and maintain your intended call flow.
Common ways teams use the audit trail
Many businesses use this feature to support operational reviews, compliance checks, and troubleshooting. If you're running a sales team and notice a drop in call volume, the audit log can help you quickly confirm whether the line settings were altered.
Supervisors and team leads also rely on the audit log to ensure that changes to call flows or ring strategies are intentional, and not the result of accidental misconfiguration.
Do I need to activate this feature?
No additional setup is needed. The audit trail is automatically enabled for all phone lines in Aloware. As soon as a change is made, it appears in the log with full detail.
