PII Redaction removes personally identifiable information from an AloAi Voice Agent's call transcripts, stored recording data, and analytics, while keeping the rest of the conversation intact.
You choose which categories of information to redact, so the feature fits compliance requirements in areas like healthcare, finance, and collections.
How it works
Redaction runs after the call ends, in the background, so it adds no delay or interruption to the live conversation.
Aloware replaces each piece of detected information with a labeled placeholder, so reviewers can still see what type of data was removed. Placeholders follow the format [REDACTED:SSN] or [REDACTED:PHONE_NUMBER].
Two rules govern what stays and what goes:
Only the categories you enable are redacted. Anything you leave off stays visible in the transcript.
Once redaction is enabled, the system never stores the original unredacted data.
Setting it up
Redaction becomes available only under the Everything except PII storage tier.
Configure it from the agent editor in four steps:
Open the agent editor and go to Security & Fallback settings.
Under Data Storage Settings, select the Everything except PII storage tier. This makes the Personal Info Redaction (PII) card available.
Click Set Up on the card to open the category panel.
Turn on the categories you want to redact, then save.
PII categories you can redact
The category panel groups the available data types into six sections:
Category | Data types |
Identity information | Person Name Date of birth Customer Account Number |
Contact information | Address Phone Number |
Government identifiers | SSN Passport Driver License |
Financial information | Credit Card Bank Account |
Security credentials | Password PIN |
Health information | Medical ID |
What to expect
Redaction applies to calls going forward once you enable it. The system does not redact existing call history retroactively. Agents without redaction enabled continue to store and display full transcripts.
