Tags vs. Lists: What the change means for your contact management
In Aloware, we're transitioning from using tags to lists for better functionality and integration. This change is designed to align our system more closely with how CRMs generally operate.
Tags, previously used for bulk actions like PowerDialer, Sequences, and assigning contact owners, are being replaced by lists. This shift will streamline automation, such as automatically enrolling contacts into sequences when they are added to a list, and enhance the ability to sync Aloware lists with dynamic lists in other CRM systems like HubSpot.
Tags and lists essentially serve the same purpose: grouping contacts. However, lists offer more dynamic and flexible management options.
This migration aims to provide a more intuitive and robust system for managing your contacts.
Step-by-step guide to migrating tags to lists
Step 1: Create a dynamic list in the contacts menu
Navigate to the Contacts menu in Aloware.
Click the "+" sign in the My Lists section.
To keep your lists organized, you can create a folder. Select Folder and give it a name.
Click the three-dot menu and select List.
A pop-up will appear; click Create a dynamic list.
Step 2: Set up filters
Click on Filters within the list creation.
Define Filter Properties - Set your filter properties to match the tags you want to migrate. For example: Tags > is any of > name of the tag
This filter ensures that the list will automatically update to include only the contacts that meet these criteria.
Step 3: Make the List Public
To allow all agents to view the list, you need to make it public. Note that agents can adjust filters for their personal view, but these changes won’t affect the public version of the list.
Go to Aloware Admin, then click on the Lists menu.
Toggle the button under the Show Public List column to make the list visible to all agents.
If you have multiple tags and want to convert them all at once, Aloware will soon introduce a 'Convert' button to simplify this process.
By following these steps, you'll be able to transition from using tags to lists in Aloware, benefiting from more dynamic and integrated contact management features.
