Understanding international pricing can be tricky, especially when it comes to making calls or sending texts across borders.

To make things easier, we’ve put together answers to some common questions about how Aloware handles international charges. Whether you're calling or automating messages, this guide will help clarify when and how international rates apply.

General

  1. Which countries are considered International?

Any country that is not in the US or Canada is considered international.

  2. What if I am a customer registered outside of the US?

If you’re registered in a country outside of the US, like Switzerland, you will receive one free local US phone number as part of your billing plan. However, any local phone numbers purchased for your users in your registered country (e.g., Swiss numbers) will be charged as international numbers.

Making outbound calls

  1. How are calls charged when dialing a local number in my country?

If you’re calling a local number from a phone number registered in the same country (e.g., calling a Swiss number from a Swiss number), international rates will apply if either the source or destination country is outside of the US, Canada, or US territories. So, in this case, international rates will be applied.

  2. If I have a US Aloware account with a US number and call a UK number, will I be charged internationally?

Yes, all calls from one country to another country are international.

  3. If I have a UK Aloware account with a UK number and call a UK number, will I be charged internationally?

Yes, all calls between different countries are considered international. Even though both numbers are UK-based, the account's location still makes the call international, so international rates will apply.

Sending SMS

  1. If I have a US Aloware account with a US number and send a workflow text to a UK number, will I be charged internationally?

Yes, all automated messages are charged based on the destination country. In this case, you'll be charged UK SMS prices.

  2. If I have a US Aloware account with a UK number and send a workflow text to a UK number, will I be charged internationally?

Yes, the charges for automations are based solely on the destination. You'll be charged UK SMS prices for sending a text to a UK number.

  3. If I have a UK Aloware account with a UK number and send a workflow text to a UK number, will I be charged internationally?

Yes, the charge is determined by the destination of the message, so you’ll be charged UK SMS prices regardless of the phone numbers used.
