Carriers check a set of registrations before they trust your outbound calls. In Aloware, the Calling compliance page holds those registrations as three numbered steps: Business registration, Voice Integrity and Branded caller ID.
Each step shows a status badge and waits for the step it depends on, so the page always shows which step is next. If your team only makes calls, this is the only compliance page you need. If you also text, finish Messaging compliance as well.
Open Calling compliance
In the admin app, go to Account and, under Trust, click Calling compliance. Typing "voice integrity" or "branded" in the Account settings search jumps straight to the matching step.
The Aloware Managed Compliance card sits at the top of the page. With this service, the Aloware compliance team handles your calling and texting registrations (A2P, Voice Integrity, Branded caller ID, STIR/SHAKEN and monitoring).
The card shows the same status on Calling compliance and Messaging compliance, so a request made from either page shows Requested on both and cannot be sent twice.
While the request is Requested, the card reminds you to submit your business registration with its document so the compliance team can reach out. Trial accounts do not see the card.
Step 1: Submit your business registration
Business registration holds your company's legal details, which carriers check. It is the same registration as step 1 on Messaging compliance, so you register your business once: saving it with Save and complete later or submitting it on either page shows on the other page right away. If you already submitted it on Messaging compliance, step 1 here shows the same status.
Submitting the business registration also files your STIR/SHAKEN registration automatically. STIR/SHAKEN is the framework that digitally signs outbound calls so carriers can confirm the caller ID is genuine; see Understanding STIR/SHAKEN. For the business registration form itself, see Account Menu: Compliance.
Step 2: Register your numbers for Voice Integrity
Voice Integrity registers your phone numbers with carriers to reduce spam labels on your calls. Until your business registration is approved, this step says Your business registration comes first.
Once it is approved, you can register your numbers in this step. When registration is complete, the step shows Registered.
Only some number types can be registered for STIR/SHAKEN and Voice Integrity. The table lists which ones.
Number type | Eligible |
US Local (10DLC) | Yes |
US Toll-free | Yes |
Verified Caller ID | No |
Short Code | No |
Hosted number (ported into Aloware but owned by your external carrier) | No |
For how carriers monitor registered numbers, see Understanding Voice Integrity.
Step 3: Order Branded caller ID
Branded caller ID shows your verified business name on the called person's screen. The Enhanced type also shows your logo and the reason for the call.
This step waits for Voice Integrity, because carriers show a business name only on numbers registered for Voice Integrity. Until Voice Integrity is registered or submitted, the step shows the Needs Voice Integrity badge and the card says Voice Integrity comes first, with no order form. After that, the card opens the order, which has four steps:
Type: choose Standard or Enhanced.
Details: display name, call reason, logo, privacy policy, and the lines that use the branding. The call reason and logo apply to Enhanced.
Use case and LOA: category, description, consent, and the signed letter of authorization (LOA), the document that authorizes branding on your numbers. You can download a sample LOA here.
Review: check the summary and submit.
A phone preview beside the form shows how the call will look as you type. Users with the agent role cannot submit an order. After you submit, the step shows Submitted. This page does not show the carrier review status of the order.
For field limits, pricing, review times and where the branding appears, see Branded Calling (Standard Caller ID and Enhanced Branded Calling) in Aloware.
Read the status badges
The badge color on each step tells you who needs to act. The table lists every badge.
Badge | Color | Meaning |
Not started, Not registered | Grey | Nothing has been submitted yet. |
Requested, Submitted, In review, Processing, Needs attention | Orange | Waiting on carriers, the Aloware team or you. Orange means pending, not a failure. |
Approved, Registered, All registered | Green, with a check on the step | Done. |
Rejected, Suspended | Red | Needs a fix. The reason shows under the step. |
Needs Voice Integrity | Grey | Branded caller ID is waiting for step 2. |
